Wine Review: This dark ruby opens with musty barnyard and black raspberry bouquet with hints of strawberry licorice. It's a little off putting. However, this wine picks up on the palate. It is medium bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a mild mineral infused raspberry with notes of oak and hints of black cherry. The finish is dry and its mild tannins and fruit flavors fade away nicely. This Mencia is very Old World in style. I would pair it with beef stew. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Mencía from old vines in clay soils, malolactic fermentation without further aging in French oak barriques. An ample yet fresh style, with red fruit and floral notes in the nose and a long, silky finish.
