Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Carmenere from Los Vascos is a very good value. It opens with a pleasant black plum and black raspberry bouquet with hints of pipe tobacco. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth, and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a mild mineral influenced black plum with notes of gentle oak, black pepper, and anise. There are also hints of blackberry and a dash of allspice at the very end. The finish is nicely extended with sticky tannins that show nice length. I would pair this good value Carmenere with a Brazilian fire roasted beef alcatra. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Intense color tinged with purple. On the nose, the wine reveals fruit aromas such as blackberry, plum and black cherry that gradually evolve with notes of white pepper and herbaceous notes characteristic of this grape variety. On the palate, the tannins are soft, silky with a pleasant balance between density and acidity.
