Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and deep ruby colored Zinfandel from the Limerick Lane Estate opens with a raspberry tea and rhubarb bouquet with hints of bay leaf and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, smooth and juicy. The flavor profile is black currant and stony minerality blend with notes of black plum. We also detected hints of licorice, tobacco, and green tea. The finish is dry and its well-managed tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this versatile Zin with Brazilian fire roasted beef alcatra or a Tuscan veal chop. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The Rocky Knoll is a 2.5-acre block on the northeast corner of the estate. This is the steepest, rockiest, and driest part of the property. It is the only block where the Zinfandel is field blended with Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre, Carignane and Syrah. These factors individually lead towards bolder flavors. Collectively, they produce the most masculine, powerful, intense wine from the Estate. It opens with aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, olive, pencil lead, and tobacco leaf. Followed by flavors of cherry, blueberry, and stems. The mouthfeel is bold and powerful, leading to a long finish.
