Wine Review: This medium ruby colored Zinfandel opens strawberry jam bouquet with notes of red raspberry and cinnamon. We also detected a little vanilla and saddle leather as well. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, smooth, juicy and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tasty wild strawberry with notes of gentle stony minerality and ripe plum along with a hint of cinnamon. The finish is dry and its well-managed tannins build-up and linger for a while. The Panel would pair this Zin with beef braciole. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The Rocky Knoll is a 2.5 acre block on the north east corner of the estate. It is rockiest part of the property and it is the only block where the Zinfandel is field blended with Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Carignane and Syrah. The 2018 has aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, green olive, and dried herbs. Flavors of black and blue fruit along with wet stones. It closes with chewy tannins with a lingering mouthfeel. Not for the faint of heart, this wine begs for the heartiest of foods and occasion.
