Wine Review: This slightly opaque medium purple colored Zinfandel opens with an inviting boysenberry, blueberry and wet stone bouquet. We also detected some hints of black plum and cigar box. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with moderate acidity. It also has a smooth and very soft mouthfeel. The flavor profile is a stewed black plum and spice blend with notes gentle blackberry and fine minerality. We also detected hints of black currant, fig, cola and oak. It is very complex. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins stick around for a little while. The Panel would pair this Zin with a carnitas enchilada, or a bacon wrapped tenderloin. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Planted in 1912 this vineyard originally came to prominence thanks to Ridge Winery. The vines on this site grow significantly taller than our vines on Limerick Lane thanks to the richer soils and increased moisture levels. This makes the resulting wine richer and darker. It opens with aromas of brambly fruit, dirt and anise. The flavors are blue and black fruit and tobacco. It is rich and round with medium-plus tannins.
