Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir from Landmark opens with an inviting teaberry and pomegranate bouquet with hints of spiced plum and black tea. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is a strawberry and black raspberry tea blend with notes of oak and black pepper. I also detected hints of spiced black plum, nutmeg, and clove. The finish is dry and its flavors and gentle tannins drift away nicely. This Pinot benefits from a little aeration. It would pair well with a pilgrim sandwich. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Medium ruby color with purple hues at the core. On the nose, it is aromatic with ripe strawberry, Bing cherry, and sweet tobacco. The palate shows notes of red plum and black raspberry on entry followed by cedar, vanilla, and herbal notes. The finish is complex and balanced with finely textured tannins, integrated toasted oak spice, button mushroom, and persistent fruit notes that are highlighted by fresh acidity. The 2021 Overlook Pinot Noir would pair nicely with a pan-seared duck breast drizzled with a pomegranate glaze.
