Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot opens with a mild black cherry and black raspberry bouquet with some earthy tones. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and very approachable. The flavor profile is a tasty plum and mild red raspberry with hints of mild oak and blackberry mixed in. The finish is dry and its mild tannins show some lingering mild oak. This wine would pair well with chicken parmigianna. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2008 Grand Detour Pinot Noir is a blend of Sonoma Coast vineyards. It exhibits a deep garnet color, replete with black raspberry and cherry fruit, complimented by chocolate and roast coffee aromas. On the palate the wine is generous but balanced by good acid and supple tannins, which taper into a long and complex finish. This wine was bottled in August of 2009 and will profit from additional bottle age of up to several years time. However, it can be enjoyed now, and will benefit from gentle decanting to bring some additional air into the wine.
