Wine Review: This Cabernet from Ladera is opaque and deep purple colored. It opens with a mild black raspberry bouquet with a hint of black currant. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced, smooth and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a lush black raspberry with notes of plum and menthol. I also detected a lint of oak and boysenberry as well. The finish is dry, with fine tannins and all that lingering fruit. This wine would pair well with pork tenderloin medallions in a marsala sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Lone Canyon Vineyard typically produces intense wines with bountiful, full-bodied tannins that are not for the faint of heart! The wine aromas are intense, consisting of black cherries, cocoa, black licorice, spices, figs, tobacco and molasses with brambly undertones. A lively yet full bodied entry hits the palate with enticing flavors of blackberry and cassis. The dark and ripe fruit flavors intertwined with the tannins carry through to an unusually long and plush finish. The 2007 vintage intensified the Lone Canyon attributes even more than usual.
