Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Cabernet from Howell Mountain opens with a mild black currant bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a mild black currant with notes of blackberry and touch of oak. The finish is dry and mild dusty fine tannins linger for some time. This wine is food friendly and would pair well with veal scaloppini with a wild mushroom sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2007 Ladera Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is as deep and dark in color as it is in aroma and flavors. The nose on this wine is floral yet fruity with rich blackberry and cocoa aromas. The entry is elegant and soft with flavors of dark cherries, blueberry, cocoa, and spiced plum. The palate is layered with well structured tannins which lead to a long and complex finish of dark currant.
