Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Howell Mountain Cabernet Franc from La Jota was well liked by our tasting group. It opens with a fragrant plum bouquet with hints of blueberry, blackberry and cedar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tasty mineral infused tart black plum with notes of black raspberry and a touch of oak. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors are nicely prolonged. I suggest pairing this very nice Cab Franc with Emeril's shrimp and linguine fra diavolo. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2012 growing season was near perfect, with ideal spring budbreak and warm, steady days balanced by cool nights. The steady weather continued into the fall, resulting in optimal ripening conditions at harvest. Our 2012 Cabernet Franc has dark-cherry and blueberry character, with fine tannins. Intriguing brambly notes carry over a weighty, satisfying palate.
