Wine Review: This deep purple colored red blend is young and initially tight. It opens with a red currant and toasted coconut bouquet with hints of pencil shavings and tobacco leaf. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and bright. The flavor profile is tart cranberry and graphite blend with notes of cassis and oak. We also detected hints of boysenberry mixed in. The finish is dry, and its grippy tannins build-up and are nicely prolonged. This wine really benefited from extended aeration. Once exposed, it blossomed nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this red blend with a pot roast or with beef stew. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our Estate Perigee captures the essence of Seven Hills Vineyard’s characteristic rich elegance, seductive aromas, and earthy structure. We hand-select our oldest and most distinguished blocks to produce this stunning, flagship wine. The 2019 Perigee epitomizes this estate vineyard’s distinctive cedar and dark fruit, framed by a structured elegance. It explodes with pretty aromas of spiced wild berries including cassis and boysenberry, along with tobacco, pencil lead, and licorice that are lifted by floral notes of spring flowers and Provençal herbs. The finish is complex and silky.
