Wine Review: This opaque and pitch black colored Carmenere from Chile is both interesting and very good. It opens with a fragrant blackberry, anise and oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty blend of blackberry with notes of oak, black olive and anise. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. This Carmenere would pair well with roast duck breast. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2011 vintage of Koyle Royale Carmenere is a dark violet color. It has pure and clean aromas with a touch of complexity from the spiciness, and graphite notes. On the palate, it is firm and balanced. The tannins are silky and velvety, with a long, lingering finish that is influenced by the addition of Petit Verdot to the final blend. This wine should be decanted 30 minutes before serving.
