Wine Review: This pale straw-colored Chardonnay from King Family Vineyards in Virgina opens with an oak and poached bartlett pear bouquet with a hint pineapple. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is an oak influenced poached bartlett pear with notes of banana and butterscotch. I also picked up some hints of granny smith apple and pineapple. The finish is dry, and its flavors linger and last for quite some time. This Chard was a Theresa favorite and would pair very nicely with lobster bisque. Enjoy – Ken.
Winemaker Notes: With aromas and flavors of hawthorn, green apple, and sweet spice, this wine balances an expression of terroir with delicate oak aging. A lifting acidity imparts structure and a lasting finish. Extended bottle aging over the next three to five years will develop some of the wine's more-savory characteristics.
