Wine Review: This dark ruby colored wine opens with a mild teaberry and black currant bouquet with hints of cedar and raisin. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, concentrated, and rich. The flavor profile is a black currant and extracted blackberry blend with notes of black cherry, cedar, and black tea. I also detected some hints of black licorice, clove, and cinnamon. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty fine tannins and fruit flavors drift away nicely. This impressive wine would pair perfectly with a crispy five spice duck with cherry-pinot noir sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our Mountain Plains is a Bordeaux-style red blend aged in new French barrels for 22 months. Rich dense layers of complexity with dark fruits and silky tannins give way to an exquisite wine.
