Wine Review: This India ink colored Shiraz from Killikanoon is very impressive. It opens with a pleasant mild blueberry and oak bouquet with hints of Oreo cookie and forest floor. One palate, this wine is a full bodied fruit forward fruit bomb that is nicely balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty blueberry and oak blend with notes of black cherry and chocolate. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are refined and well managed. The panel suggested that this Shiraz was ideal for enjoying by the fireplace with sharp cheddar cheese or with a rack of lamb dinner. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Considered a very good vintage in the Clare, the 2012 Covenant is intensely fragrant on the nose and expressive of blueberry preserves, dark fruits, licorice, wild olives and French oak spices. The palate has layers of complexity, fruit weight and flavor persistence, combining black and blue fruits, cooking spices and earthy notes. This is all beautifully supported by the characters of quality French oak.
