Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Merlot from KJ finished in 4th place in our recent big blind tasting of Merlots. This wine opens with a pronounced spicy black cherry like bouquet with notes of oak and a hint of heat. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, rich, and concentrated. The flavor profile is a black raspberry with notes of blackberry and black currant. There was a dash of black pepper detected as well. The finish is dry and its substantial tannins are very prolonged. The panel suggested pairing this wine with chicken gumbo or steak tips with a ginger sesame sauce. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: "Black plum, boysenberry, and cherry flavors dance amongst the violet, chocolate, and cedar notes. This wine is smooth and the tannins are refined and round. In true Merlot character, this wine caresses the mouth and lingers beyond each sip." Randy Ullom, Winemaster
