Wine Review: This very dark purple colored red blend from South Africa opens with a fragrant strawberry licorice bouquet with hints of blackberry and smoky oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and easy going. The flavor profile reminds me of a Grand Cru Beaujolais. Those flavors are a combination red currant, black raspberry and strawberry licorice with hints of mild oak. The finish is dry and it its mild tannins are easy going and food friendly. I would pair this wine with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: As the name implies, this concentrated yet delicate Rhône blend is a free-spirited wine. While elegant and well-balanced, it also displays a somewhat wild and brambly character, with lush flavors of nutmeg, cinnamon, blackberry and spice. Ripe fruit flavors are seamlessly balanced by dusty tannins and a complex earthy character. Deliciously matched with risotto, sensuously truffled pasta. Ideal for flavoursome grills, lamb and beef.
