Wine Review: This yellow colored Chenin is probably the best Chenin I have covered. It opens with a combination of several scents. Vanilla, oak, and apple with a hint of pine stand out. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, extremely well balanced, creamy, and luscious. The flavor profile is a delicious ripe Bartlett pear with wonderfully integrated light oak and a bit of honey. There was also a hint of papaya mixed in as well. The finish is semi-dry and its ripe fruit lingers nicely for quite a while. I would put this wine up against many top notch California Chardonnays. Serve it cool, not cold for best results. Pair it with chicken tortellini with a wild mushroom cream sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This iconic Chenin is a benchmark South African bottling, and what Ken Forrester consider to be the ultimate expression of the Chenin Blanc grape. Crafted in a rich, ripe, style, it flaunts luscious flavors of honeycomb, dried apricot and pear, with exotic tropical fruit notes and alluring undercurrents of toasted nuts, vanilla and spice.
