Wine Review: This deep purple to almost pitch-black colored Shiraz from Kay Brothers is very good. It opens with a blackberry bramble bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied, balanced and very juicy. The flavor profile is a concentrated stewed plum and boysenberry blend with notes of black cherry. We also detected hints of dark chocolate, flinty minerality, supportive oak and cardamom mixed in. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins stick around for a while. This well-done, teeth staining Shiraz is enjoyable to drink and food friendly. We would pair it with wild boar tenderloins with a dried cherry sauce. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Deep ruby color. Complex earthy notes combine with rich raspberry compote, aniseed and charcuterie on the bouquet. Lingering in the background is a hint of smoky cedar. Dense, rich fruit flavors of raspberry, blackberry and plum coat the palate initially before savory black olive leads into soft, fine-grained and lengthy tannins to finish. A full-flavored Shiraz!
