Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinotage from Kanonkop with a matchstick and black cherry bouquet with hints of fig, soy sauce, and fresh basil. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, mouthwatering and fresh. The flavor profile is concentrated blend of fig and blackberry with notes of cedar, tobacco, and rich espresso. We detected some hints of smoked meat, tart cherry, and mint in the mix. The finish is dry and moderate tannins, flavors and acidity are nicely prolonged. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinotage with Jiko's grilled wild boar tenderloin or with BBQ brisket burnt ends. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Attractive deep plum, with scented aromas of red currants, black cherry, strawberry confit and nutmeg and wood spice. The palate is medium-full bodied and opulent, with finely textured tannin and flavors of red pastille sweets, bright cherries, and hints of nutmeg. oak spice and dark chocolate. The acidity is in balance with the fruit and wood components and adds a sparkle of freshness to the red and black fruit flavors on the finish. Pair with barbequed meat, venison stew or with beef or lamb burgers.
