Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinotage opens with a spiced plum, cinnamon, and woodsy smokehouse bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and savory. The flavor profile is an oak influenced spiced black plum and boysenberry blend with notes of iron filings, smoked meat, and dried herbs. We also detected hints of red licorice, black cherry, and black tea. The finish is dry and its flavors and well managed moderate tannins drift away nicely. This Pinotage is food friendly and paired well with the Alpine Butcher’s marinaded steak tips. Enjoy – Ken, Dave & Mark
Winemaker Notes: Intense purple hues with lively aromas of fresh plums, mulberry, and allspice, followed by a meaty undertone. The palate displays an inherent earthy touch, with flavors of crimson beetroot and maraschino cherries. Coherent balance between the fruit and the fresh acidity, with muscular support from the tightly woven tannin structure.
