Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinotage from Kanonkop is very good. It opens with a smoky strawberry bouquet with a hint of cedar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty smoky oak influenced red plum with notes of integrated minerality. I also detected hints of red raspberry, teriyaki beef stick and cola. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins stick around for a while. This Pinotage is still young and gets even better on day two. I would decant it and serve it with South African sausage, aka Boerwors. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Crafted from the fruit of some of South Africa's oldest Pinotage vines, this benchmark bottling is a true Cape classic! Alluringly complex and distinctive, it boasts bold flavors of plum and red berries with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and aromatic spice. This complex and balanced wine is accessible now, but will continue to develop for 10-15 years if cellared properly
