Wine Review: This dark ruby colored South African Cabernet Sauvignon from Kanonkop opens with a cedar and red cherry bouquet with a hint on vanilla. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is red plum and cedar blend with notes of mild minerality. I also detected hints of strawberry, cranberry and tea. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty tannins are nicely prolonged. This Cab is food friendly and would pair well with duck confit. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This powerful yet elegant Bordeaux blend is a true South African classic. It displays intense aromas and rich flavors of cassis, blackberry and licorice, with underlying notes of leather and tea leaf. Intriguing hints of violets, underbrush, and cigar box carry through on the long, silky finish.
