Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Pinotage from Kanonkop is very good. It opens with a mild blackberry and black licorice bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and really smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty plum and mild blackberry blend with notes of mild minerality and oak. I also detected hints mild black licorice in the background. The finish is dry and its flavors and well managed moderate tannins show very nice length. This terrific Pinotage would pair well with Colorado lamb chops. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Crafted from pioneering Pinotage producer, Kanonkop, this benchmark bottling is a true Cape classic! Enticing, complex and distinctive, it displays juicy layers of dark berries, cassis and plum that intertwine with hints of banana and mocha that are backed by a smoky, minerally undercurrent.
