Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinotage from Kanonkop is terrific! It opens with an attractive plum bouquet with a hint of boysenberry and faint oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty mild oak infused plum with notes of black licorice and vanilla-coke. I also detected a hint of coffee as well. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are refined and don't get in the way of the fruit. This Pinotage is impressive and food friendly. It would pair well with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Crafted from the grapes of some of South Africa’s oldest Pinotage vines, this benchmark bottling is a true Cape classic! Charmingly complex and distinctive, it boasts succulent layers of dark berries, cassis and plum intertwined with hints of banana and mocha and a smoky, minerally undercurrent.
