Wine Review: This very dark red colored Syrah from Washington state opens with a blueberry and flint stone bouquet with hints of oolong tea and tart cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and savory. The flavor profile is a red plum and stony minerality blend with notes of blackberry tea. I also detected hints of red licorice and black pepper. The finish is very dry, and its dusty tannins linger and last for quite some time. This Syrah paired well with my pan-rendered duck breast with a butternut squash puree and a pomegranate reduction. Winemaker Notes: Darkly flavored and super juicy. Oozing with black raspberry, black plum, blackberry, dates. Orange marmalade cracked black pepper, cardamom, Columbia River gravel. Silky, sexy, Milbrandt.
