Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Joseph Phelps opens with a cedar and black raspberry bouquet with hints of strawberry, violet, and toffee. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and has nice tension. The flavor profile is rich, featuring black pepper and black cherry blend notes of oak and red plum. We also detected some hints of black licorice, cinnamon, baking spices, and lingonberry. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins and flavors stick around for a while. The Tasting Panel would decant this Pinot in the near term before pairing it with a grilled hanger steak or a grilled veal chop. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Fresh and lively with perfumed black raspberry and cherry aromatics wrapped in rustic forest floor notes. Juicy Bing cherry, savory herbs, and ripe dark berries create a complex and textured palate with acid structure and balance leading to a delightfully engaging finish.
