Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Joseph Phelps opens with a black currant and old oak bouquet with a hint of banana. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and approachable. The flavor profile is a tasty plum and black cherry blend with nicely integrated mild minerality and oak. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins linger and build as time goes on. This Cab is food friendly and should pair very nicely with a cowboy cut prime rib. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon highlights blackberry, dried blueberry and violet with notes of graphite and cloves followed by opulent layers of black currant jam, roasted coffee, tobacco, dried fig and vanilla bean. A full-bodied, deeply concentrated wine with supple tannins and a lengthy finish.
