Wine Review: This black garnet Spanish red wine from Monsant opens with fragrant floral, fireplace ash and turned earth aromas. On the palate, the body is medium-plus with a full mouthfeel. The flavor profile is dominated by blackberry and pomegranate flavors with hints of wild cherry and blueberry. The tannins are bold but well managed. Likewise, the oak is moderate to heavy but there is plenty of fruit and an uplifting acidity to bring it all into balance. The finish, however, was rather short. Overall this is a nicely built wine that will pair nicely with whatever you pull off the grill. – Jeoff
Winemaker Notes: Old Vine Garnacha & Samso (Carignan) combine for dramatic effect. With a suggestion of structural earthiness on the nose, juicy flavors of raspberry and red-currant envelope the palate with silky texture, maintaining freshness of the varietals and graceful accents of spice that linger on a suave gently tannic finish.
