Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Spanish wine opens with a black raspberry bouquet with hints of barnyard and Maraschino cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty cedar infused black cherry with hints of black pepper and a touch of black plum. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate dusty tannins linger for quite a while after the wine is gone. This wine is very food friendly and would be a perfect barbecue wine. I would pair with grilled baby-back ribs slathered with Sticky Fingers Carolina sweet barbecue sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Made from Garnacha, Samso (Carinena), Syrah and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on llicorella (slate) and decomposed granite soils. Vines average between 30 and 50 years old, yielding a scant 1.25 kilos per vine. Aging is 50% in light-toast French oak, 50% in lined concrete. Freshness and intensity of fruit are the result.
