Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Shiraz from Jim Barry opens with a ripe black raspberry, black licorice and oak bouquet. I also noted some spice. The medium plus bodied palate is smooth and slightly dry with some bright acidity. The flavor profile is black plum and black raspberry blend with notes of light tart cherry, strawberry, spice, oak and hints of vanilla and black licorice mixed in. The finish is dry and the dusty tannins faded away nicely. I would recommend pairing this Shiraz from the Clare Valley with a barbecue pulled pork sandwich on a brioche roll. - Joe
Winemaker Notes: This wine is a deep red with a magenta hue in the glass. Vibrant aromatics of lifted florals, soft licorice, blackberries and spice. The palate is dominated by dark and bramble fruits with a hint of warming oak. A seamless flow with well-integrated tannin. Juicy dark flavors persist through the finish with sweet spice and a savory edge to close. This wine is ideally suited to good food, good friends and good conversation.
