Wine Review: This slightly opaque and ruby colored Syrah from J. Lohr opens with a black cherry and cedar bouquet with hints of black currant. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel nicely balanced, smooth, and a little fresh for a Syrah. The flavor profile is a mild black cherry and mocha blend with notes of blueberry and black plum. I also picked up some hints of herbal tea and stony minerality. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins stick around for a while. I would pair this good value Syrah with your favorite steak burrito recipe. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2022 J. Lohr South Ridge Syrah has vibrant purple and magenta hues. Fresh baked cherry pie aromas are accented with lilac, white pepper, and holiday spice. The juicy yet spicy structure of this northern Rhône cultivar is lengthened and lifted by the inclusion of Mourvèdre and Viognier. Try with spicy chicken fajitas or oven-baked baby back ribs.
