Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Petit Verdot from J. Lohr opens with a black plum and blueberry bouquet with hints of violets, Dr. Pepper, and sage. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, super smooth, and dense. The flavor profile is stewed black plum and blueberry blend with notes of black cherry, stony minerality, and cola. We also detected hints of black tea and herbs de Provence. The finish is dry, and its well-managed fine tannins linger nicely. We would pair this Petit Verdot with beef bourguignon or with a charcuterie board. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our Petit Verdot displays abundant aromas of ripe plum, blueberry, and violet, with subtle cedar and anise notes from 15 months of aging in French oak barrels. Brambly and bright on entry, the tannin structure is refined and polished, with lasting blackberry and black cherry flavors that linger on the finish. Serve with hearty beef and vegetable stew or end the meal with this finely- textured red with Manchego cheese, Marcona almonds, and dried fruit.
