Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Merlot based blend from J. Lohr opens with a gentle spearmint and cedar bouquet with hints of boysenberry and violets. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, very smooth, dense, and bold. The flavor profile is delicious cherry liqueur and marionberry blend with notes of flinty minerality and menthol. We also detected hints of white pepper, dark chocolate, and bacon. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and fine round tannins are nicely sustained. We would pair this red blend with an aged prime New York strip steak with Yorkshire pudding or with osso buco. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2021 J. Lohr Cuvée POM showcases aromas of black cherry, blueberry, and blackberry layered with baked pie crust and cocoa powder. Vibrant acidity, persistent fresh berry flavors, and a plump mid-palate leads to a long finish with notes of dried cherries and clove. Perfect with Spanish-style paella.
