Wine Review: This pitch-black colored Cabernet Sauvignon from J. Lohr opens with a black raspberry and black cherry bouquet with hints of violets, black coffee, dark chocolate, and sandalwood. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, dense, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is ripe black raspberry and menthol blend with notes of candied violets and black currant. We also detected hints of cedar, black cherry, and a touch of prune. The finish is dry, and flavors and acidity and moderate tannins drift away nicely. We would drink this Cab in the near term and pair it with a seared duck breast with cherries and port sauce or with dark chocolate. Enjoy - KWGTP
