Wine Review: This deep purple colored Zinfandel from J. Dusi opens with a black raspberry and boysenberry bouquet with hints of cigar box and black plum. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, velvety, and rich. The flavor profile is tasty black plum and black tea blend with notes of cranberry, bay leaf, and boysenberry. We also detected hints of stony minerality, oak, black pepper. The finish is dry and well-managed fine tannins and flavors drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would serve this Zinfandel with veal parmigiana or with a hearty Sunday gravy over rigatoni pasta. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: There is no doubt that Gazzaroli Zinfandel is a 50/50 split of Dante Dusi Vineyard and Benito Dusi Vineyards. It harbors all of the features of these unique and interesting wines. Its color is deep and opaque. The nose pops with mixed berries and herbs. Its super smooth mid-palette is full of dark fruits. The balance of fruit, acidity and tannins create a bright boysenberry finish.
