Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Oregon opens with an inviting Maine wild blueberry and ripe black cherry bouquet with hints of wet stone and iris. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is round and balanced. The flavor profile remains a blueberry and black cherry blend with notes of stone dust. We also detected hints of red licorice and spice. The finish is dry and its flavors and fine tannins drift away nicely. The Panel would pair this impressive Pinot with Coq au vin or a grilled veal chop. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A limited cuvée of complex, boldly structured Pinot Noir from very rocky soils in our home vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains. This is a three-barrel selection from our 22-acre estate Appassionata Vineyard, which surrounds the winery. This edition is a blend of fruit from the rockiest parts of the vineyard, which has thin volcanic clay topsoil over fractured basalt bedrock. It’s amazing to see how this very rocky soil is reflected in the firm structure, dark, brambly fruit and forceful texture of the wine. That distinctive, stony character is why we decided to do this special cuvée.
