Wine Review: This ruby colored Chianti Classico from Isole e Olena opens with an old leather and black raspberry bouquet with hints of black tea and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, bright, and frisky. The flavor profile is a blackberry and tart black cherry blend with notes of stony minerality and capers. I also detected hints of mild licorice, dark chocolate, and oak in the aftertaste. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and mild tannins linger nicely. This Chianti Classico benefits from a little aeration. I would decant it before pairing it with beef bolognese.
