Wine Review: This pitch black colored Merlot from Hunnicutt is very good. It opens with a mild black cherry and blueberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and rich. The flavor profile is a concentrated black cherry-cola with notes of oak and a hint of minerality and blueberry. The finish is dry and its flavors and building moderate tannins stick around for a while. This is a very nice Merlot which you could enjoy with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The deep ruby red color of the 2012 Merlot invites you to enjoy the aromatics of brooding cassis, bright red fruit, milk chocolate cherry and layered oak. Tastes of red fruit, violet and cola create a mouth feel that is round and seductive with vibrant acid and fine-grained tannin giving the wine great body and length. The inclusion of 6% Petit Verdot creates a right-bank blend that should not be missed. Drink now through 2019.
