Wine Review: This pitch black colored Malbec from Mt. Veeder opens with a fragrant boysenberry bouquet with hints of blackberry and faint coffee in the background. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic, juicy and nicely coats the mouth. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry with notes of plum and boysenberry. I also detected hints of dark roast coffee and anise. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors linger and last for quite a while. I enjoyed this Malbec by the fireplace with some sharp cheddar cheese. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Located near the summit of Mount Veeder, our Small Block Malbec from the Veeder Summit Vineyard is supple and sensuous, with flavors of blackberries and dark fruits along with a touch of jam and peppery spice that allows the wine to linger. This wine pairs well with duck, squab and pork, sweet onions, leafy greens, rainbow chard, Bloomsdale spinach, heirloom tomatoes and grain mustard. Young Gouda cheese.
