Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Spanish red wine from Rioja opens with a fragrant and fruity black raspberry bouquet with a hint of boysenberry jam and cherry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, lush, juicy and slightly acidic. The flavor profile is a ripe plum with integrated minerality. I also detected hint of black licorice, soy, and black olive. The finish is dry and its fruit, mild acidity and gentle tannins are nicely prolonged. This good value wine would pair well with comfort foods. Shepherd’s pie came to mind. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine is the utmost expression of the area's young wines, with marked notes of liquorice, blackberries and raspberries; a very fresh, cherry-purple wine with an intense rim. In the mouth it is very pleasant, with tangy notes that accentuate its personality. Ideal serving temperature is 14-15ºC and the wine has a life of 3 years, during which it will continue to improve. It does not require decanting or airing before serving.
