Wine Review: This 2005 Riesling is the current vintage of this Riesling. It is a white gold colored wine that opens with a Bosc pear and bees wax bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty blend of Bosc pear, honey, and almond with a hint of minerals and lime. It is quite complex and a typical style for an aged Riesling. The finish is dry and pleasant. This wine is very food friendly. It went perfectly with my halibut. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Riesling Gran Cru Altenberg has a strong yellow-gold color, and a deep and expressive nose filled with fresh and complex citrus aromas. It has a surprisingly rich and fat palate, with great structure and a wonderfully dry, long finish. A very elegant Riesling, with excellent ageing potential. This is a great wine both for fine meals and festive occasions. It is an excellent accompaniment to seafood and fish dishes.
