Wine Review: This light straw colored Chardonnay from Grgich Hills is very good. It opens with a mild creme brulee bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty lemon with notes of light vanilla oak and pineapple. I also detected a hint of lime as well. The finish is dry and its acidity and flavors are nicely prolonged. This Chardonnay is very food friendly. Our mini-tasting group thought this would pair nicely with grilled swordfish with a mango salsa. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Miljenko "Mike" Grgich has been called "The King of Chardonnay" since the winery began in 1977, and you can taste why in this classically-styled wine. We did not allow the Chardonnay to undergo malolactic fermentation, preserving its natural acidity. The wine displays ripe peach, mango and tropical flavors, with a note of minerality. Enjoy with fresh seafood, roasted chicken, grilled pork, and creamy cheeses.
