Wine Review: This bright red colored Pinot Noir from New Zealand opens with a smoky and musty oak bouquet with notes of raspberry in the background. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and linear. The flavor profile is a smoky oak influenced spiced red plum and cola blend. I also detected notes of crushed stone and thyme along with hints of mocha in the aftertaste. The finish is dry and its acidity and flavors linger and last for a while after the wine is gone. This Pinot would pair well with slow cooker root beer pulled pork sandwiches. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: A seductive combination of blackberries, blueberries and sweet black plums intermingled with roasted chestnuts, cloves and dark tobacco. There were also rich and exotic with hints of lavender and rose petal. A highly perfumed, aromatic style of Marlborough Pinot with opulent fruit sweetness and a delicate smoky infusion. The palate is generous with ripe fruit, fine tannins and a delicious spicy finish.
