Wine Review: A deep ruby, approachable Cabernet Sauvignon from South Australia. The bouquet is a mosaic of blackberry, black currant, smoked meat, and tomato leaf, along with notes of black cherry, nutmeg, and sawdust. On the palate it is medium bodied, medium acidity, fresh, lively, and slightly austere. I found flavors of blackberry, red currant, black pepper, and toasty oak. There is also some graphite and dried herbs. Nice dusty tannins linger for a while in the dry finish. This Cab went well with a midwestern favorite, Tater Tot Hotdish. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: This is a wine with finesse and fine structure. The nose opens with layers of blackberries, plum and herbs. The palate is elegant and refined with more black fruit, lifted acidity and dusted tannins through the long finish.
