Wine Review: This almost clear colored Vidal Blanc from Rhode Island was another discovery at the Boston Wine Expo. It opens with a lime and mild grapefruit bouquet with hints of nectarine and peach pit. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is bright, textured, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a saline and slightly tart grapefruit and lime blend with notes of chalky minerality and white pepper. We also picked up a hint of white peach at the very end. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity are nicely extended. Mark and I would pair this Vidal Blanc with grilled swordfish skewers. Winemaker Notes: Vidal Blanc is a wonderful French/American hybrid that produces extremely aromatic and pleasantly flavored wine. It is delicious, crisp, and pairs well with ham, salads, cheese, and spicy foods. Medium Dry. Fermented and aged in stainless steel.
