Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Barbera opens with a red licorice and black cherry bouquet with a hint of leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a tasty black cherry with hints of cedar and minerality. The finish is dry and its mild tannins are well integrated. This wine is not overly complex. That said, is is a tasty quaffer that is very food friendly. I would pair a glass or two with chicken parmigianna. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Barbera is one of the most representative grape varieties in Piedmont (and third most widely planted red grape in Italy. A round, balanced red, featuring black cherry, raspberry, spice and tobacco notes that offset the firm structure. Subtle oak adds further depth and complexity. A powerful and heady Piedmont Barbera, with good length. The wine will complement typical rich Piemonte cuisine such as stews and pastas in red sauces with meat as well as other richer dishes that will complement the structure of the wine.
