Wine Review: This opaque and onyx colored red blend opens with black cherry and mild old oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a pleasant and friendly ripe plum and gentle oak blend. I also detected a hint of black currant. The finish is rather dry and its building tannins are big and sticky. I would pair this very good South African red blend a thick ribeye. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Glenelly Grand Vin is the signature red blend of the estate. The wine is a deep and dark wine much like the 2006 vintage. Rich, savoury character of Shiraz with specifics flavours of blackberries, cherries, cassis and floral tones. Good richness of ripe fruit and pepper-spice supported by a firm tanins structure. Very good oak integration. The palate entry develop tremendous concentration of flavours with a very good complexity and a fresh long finish.
