Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Gamay from the Morgon Cru is a very good value. It opens with a bramble berry bouquet with hints of old leather, earth and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a black plum and mild mineral blend with notes of oak and black raspberry. I also detected some hints of green tea towards the very end. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins stick around for quite a while. This Cru level Beaujolais is built for hearty dishes. I would pair it with beef bourguignon this fall. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This fine Morgon presents a shiny garnet color. Aromas of black fruits, predominantly cassis, are in the nose with a pronounced freshness. Generous, unctuous and rich, with fine, silky tannins. Serve as an accompaniment to grilled meats, spicy foods and fine aged cheeses.
