Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from the Russian River opens with an earthy loam, black cherry-cola, and black tea bouquet with hints of teaberry, mushroom, and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with crisp medium acidity. The mouthfeel is initially a tad rustic, but with aeration becomes balanced, round, and smooth. The flavor profile is a tart strawberry, pomegranate, and cedar plank blend with notes of stony minerality and craisin. There are hints of black tea and clove in the aftertaste. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and fine-grained tannins are nicely prolonged. This Pinot would pair well with your favorite pulled pork recipe. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: A few truly amazing vineyards comprise this gorgeous blend, each contributing compelling and vibrant aromas of cherry compote, black tea, rose petal, cedar, and star anise. Intensely packed with flavors of black raspberry, Olalliberry, wild strawberry, sweet pipe tobacco, wet tea leaves and a hint of coriander on the finish. Every swirl on the tongue leaves the lips smacking with snappy acidity and firm, beautifully velvety tannins, while the persistent finish leaves you longing for the next sip Fireplace and Beemster XO gouda cheese.
